Maxing Out Your Time

We’re well into 2020, I cannot even believe that, everything is passing by so quickly!
Ending and starting a new year, many people like to reflect on the past year, and make goals or new year resolutions for the year ahead.
2019 was surely an adventure for me with debuting our first collection at Dubai Modest Fashion Week, and then launching the Roots Collection, and then our Fall Edit. We have some amazing things in the works coming for you this year, and we are super excited to share it with you!!! But for now it’s a secret.
One lesson from 2019 that stood out for me was how we often don’t realize how much time we have and often underestimate our capabilities. When I doubled down I achieved so much, I would wake up for tahajjud, pray fajr and get to work before the kids had to be up for school. Of course there were days when I woke up to the athan, and I was like “dang it,” but wow I realized how powerful we are when we take every second and use it.
I literally from waking up to just before sleep would squeeze any possible time to work on Mayada, in between the drop offs, lunch, pick ups, homework, dinner and the constant cleaning up after 5 kiddos, plus managing an investment property and running a halaqa- just reading that makes me tired lol!
Of course we have to attempt to strike a balance, for spiritual health, physical health, quality family time, and our career. It is vital to carve out time for each, some days work better than others, but it’s the striving for a balance that works for you, is what is important.
For me I run a halaqa with some amazing ladies, we do weekly Quran reading, translation and very in depth tafsir, it usually takes me 2 days to prepare the lesson, and twice a month Coffee & Halaqa where we discuss topics that are relevant and important to our faith.
This has helped me maintain my eman, and foster a great relationship with so many wonderful likeminded sisters.
For family time, I make sure I spend with my kids one on one time, and always sit down to talk to them about their day. For Hubby, he’s usually away at work most of the week, as he works at a remote location, so we get the weekends together, and if I’m lucky a day here and there during the week. But we make sure that we send messages to each other throughout the day and always have an evening call to discuss the day and reconnect.
Unfortunately, aside from eating healthy (most of the time lol), I haven’t been putting in workouts as I did before the last two little ones. This is something I want to work on this year, to make sure I’m getting in a daily workout, and keeping my body healthy.
So to make sure I get back to tahajjud and include a daily workout I’ve put together my ideal day, and of course depending on what’s going on would have to change it up a bit.
