Gearing up for Ramadan
Amidst the storm of COVID19

I absolutely cannot believe that Ramadan is literally around the corner. You all know that Ramadan is my favourite month of the year – just like for so many!
The only difference is this year, most of our Ramadan traditions are on hold for our safety and health, and rightfully so.
The bliss of Ramadan is the community tarawee’ah, iftars, lectures, qiyaam and itikaaf. Also for all of those who wished to do umrah in Ramadan, it just hurts inside, I know.
But this is what we’ve been given, so let’s make the very best of it, there surely is a silver lining in the midst of this storm.
Tips to Start Ramadan on the Right Foot:
- Start decreasing the caffeine intake
- Get to bed earlier
- Pray Fajr on time, and if you’re a superstar, get in that Tahajjud too
- Try to get in as many sunnah prayers as you can
- Make a list of dua (don’t forget to include your goals, and whatever is near and dear to your heart)
- Have kiddoes? Print them out Ramadan booklets, activities and prepare craft items to keep them involved too
- Preprepare marinades, freeze chopped onions, or your favourite chopped vegetables to help you make quick suhoors and iftars
- Set goals for Quran reading, mini family halaqas in your home, or listening to lectures
- Start to decorate, bring joy and happiness into your home with lights, banners, balloons etc…
- Find a way to give back (donate to your local charities and women shelters)
- The most important of all make the intention to fast Ramadan and pray that we will be able to experience this Month of Mercy again
